To Clean or Not to Clean...

To clean or not to clean, vintage jewelry, that is the question I ask myself sometimes. I get vintage jewelry from estates and other places and I usually let the buyer clean the jewelry if the want to or need to. I think that when we sell vintage jewelry, "patina" is a good thing.

I purchased a pair of earrings from an estate sale about a year ago and was told they were sixty years old. They looked every bit of those sixty years. They had lost all shine and were black. They made your hands dirty just holding them. I threw them in the jewelry junk box and never gave them another thought until the other day when I found them again...

I decided to clean them and this is what I found http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20156318
Aren't they gorgeous? So I guess the answer to the question, to clean or not to clean, is still going to be up to your discretion. But I'm glad that I did. Thanks for looking!
