Anxiety

It can creep up on you or it can strike like lightning. It can make you feel breathless and terrified. Your heart beats faster and your thoughts starts swimming in a murky haze of confusion. There isn't anything you can say or do that would make sense right now and you feel like you might pass out. If you have ever felt like this or anything similar, you may be experiencing anxiety. Anxiety can rear it ugly head in many ways, shapes and forms. Panic attacks can range from mild to severe and are a more severe case of anxiety. They can last from a few minutes to 30 minutes or longer.

The good news is that anxiety is usually our bodies way of telling us to slow down. The more we fight the anxiety, the worse it often gets. Realizing that "this too shall pass" is not easy when you are in the middle of what feels like a crisis situation to you and your loved ones. But anxiety will usually settle down within a short time if we don't fight it too hard. Anxiety is usually a sign of some pent up emotion so allow that emotion to come out. Cry if you need to. It's okay to cry...

Seek medical help if you have ongoing anxiety that interferes with work or you just aren't enjoying life like you want to.

Thank you to the family members who live with and love someone who suffers with anxiety disorder. Your road is not easy and your burden is great. We thank you.
