Fibromyalgia Coping

The following coping tips for Fibromyalgia have helped me and I always like to pass on what works.

  • a warm bath. Hot baths seem to aggravate my fibro at times. I tend to have some times where even my clothing is irritating my nerve endings and a warm shorter bath is more effective than a long, hot one.
  • Please check your muscle tension throughout the day. Tensing your shoulders, jaw, or holding your breath? I have to relax my shoulders on a regular basis. Check yourself, you will be surprised at how tight your muscles are. Let it go.
  • If you like to read and spend a considerable amount of time reading invest in a lap desk to put your book on. They are great for doing any kind of writing or reading and will assist you with your posture.
  • Don't apologize for having Fibromyalgia. Learn to say "no" if you cannot or do not want to perform certain tasks. For your loved ones and "real" friends no explanation is necessary, for others, no explanation will ever suffice.
  • Laughter really is the best medicine. And hugs.
