A Space has Opened Up

I have been doing a lot of reading lately about gracious living and finding inner peace.  And yes, I'll say it for you, the occasional self-help book.  But I am not opposed to anything that will help quiet the maniacs that sometimes rule my world.  This topic, "find space between your thoughts" isn't anything new for me since I meditate on a regular basis and have come to love this infinite holy space.

But on a more simple note, Eckhart Tolle explains it this way, "Whenever there is beauty, kindness, the recognition of goodness of simple things in your life, look for the background to that experience within yourself."

He goes on to say..."Most people are only peripherally aware of the world that surrounds them, especially if their surroundings are familiar.  The voice in the head absorbs the greater part of their attention.  Some people feel more alive when they travel and visit unfamiliar places or foreign countries because at that time sense perceptions-experiencing takes up more of their consciousness than thinking.  Others remain completely possessed by the voice in the head even then.

This is most people's reality:  As soon as something is perceived, it is named, interpreted, compared with something else, liked, disliked, or called good or bad by the phantom self, the ego.

You do not awaken spiritually until the compulsive and unconscious naming ceases and you are able to observe it as it happens.  When it ceases and you become aware of it, there is inner space."

Take the time today to truly open your being, quiet your mind and look at your life in a new way.  Things have been tough lately on so many people, but we can make a difference by opening up the space inside ourselves and seeing the beauty that surrounds us and then becoming a beacon for those who are yet to see.
